Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars

1 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 tbsp molasses
2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
3 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts
12oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350*.  Grease 15x10 or 13x9 inch pan.  In large bowl, beat brown sugar and
shortening until light and fluffy.  Add molasses, vanilla and eggs; blend well.  Lightly
spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.  Stir in oats, flour, baking soda and salt;
blend well.  Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.  Spread in prepared pan.  Bake at 350*
for 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown and center is set.  Cool slightly;
cut into bars.  Serve warm or cool.  4 dozen bars.
